"In a world where prisoners are treated like animals, we made our experiences there feel more human by how we prepared our food."

The inmate says the CT prison serves him fish three times a week despite the guidelines of his Buddhist views.

“For me, Rikers Island is a death sentence,” he said in his lawsuit. “It’s not a matter of surviving and worrying about inmates. I have to worry about the food killing me.”
