Now in its 35th year, the costumed canine celebration in the East Village features adoptable dogs, treats and a fierce costume competition.

Mayor Eric Adams’ administration is calling the parade, which will take place in July 2026, the “Homecoming of Heroes.”

The lawsuit was filed by a Nassau County woman who says her child was shot at the event on Sept. 2 last year.

The annual celebration will feature more than 20,000 marchers and two dozen floats.

The people who comprise one of the city’s most famous celebrations say interest is waning and costs are ballooning.

The parade kicks off at noon on Sixth Avenue and runs between 36th and 55th streets.

Parade organizers expect 500,000 people to come and celebrate the "Year of the Dragon."

“We really need tens of thousands of New Yorkers right now to come out and create positive energy, partly to offset all the terrible things that are going on at the moment," the parade's longtime artistic director says.
