The summer kickoff event was a swimming success in Coney Island as the 40th Mermaid Parade made its way down Surf Avenue.

After being sidelined by the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the beloved event made of mermaids, sea creatures and sailors is back to celebrate its 40th year.

"The risks to our sponsors, patrons, community and our wonderful staff—who have risen to every challenge—were too much to bear."
