Cuomo amassed king-like powers as part of New York’s response to the pandemic. Now, both chambers of the New York State legislature are expected to vote Friday morning on a bill to repeal the governor’s emergency powers.

Last March, the state legislature granted special new powers to Governor Andrew Cuomo to fight a pandemic that would soon kill hundreds of New Yorkers every day.
