A 47-year-old woman was struck and killed by the driver of an SUV as she crossed Astor Place on Thursday morning.
According to police, Lisa Julian was crossing the street from east to west around 6:30 a.m. when she was struck by the driver of a white Ford Explorer traveling southbound on Cooper Square. Julian was taken to Beth Israel Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The driver remained on the scene, and the incident is under investigation. As of now, though, no criminality is suspected.
