A woman was stabbed to death at an apartment building in Upper Manhattan early Monday, and police said they took a man they believe is her assailant into custody.
NYPD officials said officers were called to the address on West 129th Street near St. Nicholas Terrace in West Harlem around 4:30 a.m. When they arrived, they found a 47-year-old woman stabbed multiple times throughout her body.
Emergency medical workers took the woman in critical condition to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police did not immediately identify her as they worked to notify her family.
Officials have not announced any charges and said they were investigating the circumstances behind the killing.

One building resident, 47-year-old Ronald Spry, woke to find the hallway covered in blood.
“It was a lot of blood, trails of blood, a big puddle,” he said. “It is all over the place, like she was running and blood was just dripping. Then she stopped right in the middle and that's where she probably collapsed.”
