[Update below ] A 26-year-old woman fell into the L train track at Union Square earlier this evening—and is reportedly okay! According to the Post, "An Eighth Avenue-bound L train pulling into the station just after 7 p.m. was able to stop before running her over. She was rushed to Bellevue Hospital with cuts to her head, but miraculously, no serious injuries." Cops tell us it appeared she was dizzy (people, please stand away from the platform edge). Trains were suspended for a little while between Eighth Avenue and Bedford, but resumed service about an hour later.

Update, 8:40 a.m.: A commenter wrote, "I was there and saw the whole thing. The train DID NOT stop before hitting her, it went right over her. I don't know why they would say that it stopped, but hopefully the part about her being OK is true." A WCBS 2 report also says the "Eighth Avenue-bound 'L' train pulled into the station and rolled over her. Somehow she survived."

NYC Transit spokesman Paul Fleuranges tells us that the woman "was found under the train, conscious and alive" and, to his knowledge, did not "sustain serious injury, but she was under the train." According to WCBS 2, EMTs "who first reached her were shocked to find nothing more than a few cuts to her head. No serious injuries at all." Wild story and good ending!
