A Long Island resident apparently really loves to drive drunk, because Newsday reports that a 27-year-old man "rented the car to avoid the court-mandated breath analyzer system in his own vehicle." Marvin Rice, of Shirley, was arrested yesterday after crashing his car into a telephone pole early yesterday morning in Brentwood. He was trying to circumvent the "ignition interlock device"—"which requires drivers to submit to a breath test before the vehicle can be started"—placed in his car after he agreed to participate in the program after his 2005 DWI. Rice was charged with and will be arraigned in April. And he was airlifted to a hospital for his multiple injuries (luckily no one else was hurt).
