The logic goes something like this. Because the Eagles won a huge game to get into the playoffs and then won a tough road game in the playoffs, they are the equivalent of the 2007 Giants. And because the Giants lost three of their last four games, they are the equivalent of the 2007 Cowboys. So, the Eagles will beat the Giants tomorrow just like the Giants beat the Cowboys last January.
It’s a stupid analogy and it totally overlooks one important fact. These Giants are defending Super Bowl champs. They have won the biggest game. The 2007 Cowboys had a handful of players who had even won a playoff game. As Antonio Pierce said yesterday, "You can't be the New York Giants until you win the Super Bowl."
That doesn’t mean the Eagles will be an easy opponent to face. Philadelphia dominated the Giants in Giants Stadium a month ago and they are a very dangerous team when Brian Westbrook touches the ball. But, the Giants are motivated and playing at home after a week off. The injury report tells a story too—8 Eagles are listed against only 2 Giants. New York is rested and ready and will use a healthy Brandon Jacobs to punish the Philadelphia defense. Put it all together and New York will win this game.
