The wife of Lawrence Taylor spoke to The Insider about the rape charges that the Giants great is facing and Lynette Taylor believes her husband was set-up, "I have no idea what he was doing with a teenager. We're talking about reports, not what we know as facts. I don't know if he was with a teenager. Lawrence is 51 years old. Why would a teenage girl be soliciting sex from a 51-year-old man?"
Well, according to the federal criminal complaint against Rasheed Davis, who is accused of pimping a 16-year-old out to Taylor, Taylor told cops that he did pay $300 for sex with the girl, but didn't know she was underage. Additionally, Davis was found with the address of the Holiday Inn in Suffern, NY and a room number. The Ramapo police entered Room 160 and found Taylor; the police chief said, "He was very concerned about injuries to the victim." (The victim was allegedly beaten by Davis, who forced her to visit Taylor.)
Lynette Taylor also told The Insider, "First, he is not one of those people who would invite a person back to his room. He has been in situations before where he has been robbed and by different women, so that's not something that he does. Second thing is, I know my husband's taste. He has a certain type of woman that he likes and from what I'm learning of this, this person had nothing to offer him, so I don't why he would go to such extremes for someone that's not even his thing. I'm sure there's no shortage of women..."
It's unclear if she is referring to what the sister of the teen told the Daily News—that a third party "relayed the message that Mr. Taylor was willing to pay $300 for a skinny Spanish girl. Since Rasheed knew my sister, he volunteered her for this."
Taylor's agent Mark Lepselter told WCBS 2, "In all my years knowing him, I never saw him this mentally distraught over a set of circumstances that he was involved in," and that when he looked into Taylor's eyes, he saw "despair."
