Jury deliberations began Tuesday in the case of

obviously guiltyalleged

cyclist assaulter and police report liar Patrick Pogan, whom the whole world saw violently shove a bike rider to the curb without provocation during a 2008 Critical Mass ride. Today is Thursday. What could possibly be taking so long?

Well, there was an elderly woman on the jury, and she got sick. After deliberating for about five hours on Tuesday, everything was put on hold Wednesday morning after her husband called to say she was sick with a fever and strep throat. "She's an older woman, so it sounds like we'll be missing [her] for an indeterminate amount of time," the judge said, according to the Post. Still, they had all Wednesday afternoon to decide this thing!

A tipster in the courtroom tells us the jury later asked the clerk to re-read the counts of falsifying police records, which could land Pogan in jail for four years. Pogan insists he just misspoke when he told his sergeant and the assistant DA that cyclist Christopher Long rode directly into him and knocked him down. He faces a maximum of three months if convicted of assault, but if his lawyer successfully defies reality and persuades the jury that Long is just an anarchist stoner who provoked the whole incident, Pogan says he'll "seriously consider" rejoining the NYPD. Don't tease us, bro!
