Ew: The Norwegian Sun Cruise line accidentally dumped 40 tons of raw sewage into Washington State waters:
An engineer aboard the Norwegian Sun opened valves to dump what he thought was "gray water" from the ship's sinks and showers. He didn't realize that the system had recently been reworked, Kenny said, and the tank in question had been upgraded to handle "black water" -- the nautical term for raw sewage from the vessel's toilets.
The ship, nearly as long as three football fields, carries up to 3,200 passengers and crew -- the equivalent of a small floating city.
