As you may have noticed when you sighed heavily and promised yourself you'd finally buy a bicycle, the 4, 5, and 6 lines are pretty much useless in Manhattan this morning. (This is Mayor Bloomberg's line, so please don't give him a hard time when he shows up late.) According to the MTA, due to switch problems at the 14th Street-Union Square station, there is no 4, 5 and 6 train service in both directions between Grand Central-42 St and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall.
We're hearing that they're starting to resume "limited" express service, but if you're one of the blessed ones who begins your commute now, at the civilized hour of 9 a.m., you'd do well to consider other options, like rickshaw or Great Eagle.
