Mayoral hopeful Rep. Anthony Weiner and presidential hopeful hopeless Donald Trump both appeared on Piers Morgan Tonight on CNN last night, discussing Libya, OPEC, and how best to insult each other. Poor Bill Richardson was also on the show, but you would have been hard-pressed to notice given that he was the third wheel during their tense banter. Let's just say that if this were the 1950s, the Hays Code would have required that the cameras fade out on Trump and Weiner sometime between Weiner sarcastically calling Trump "big guy" and Trump jabbing, "A lot of people are leaving the city if you end up winning." Here's the video (things get interesting around 6:20):
Weiner took the first shot when he said, "I'm not president yet—although I think I have as much chance as Donald Trump does." For some reason, Morgan defended Trump, and said "He's polling better than you." Trump then chimed in, "If I polled like Anthony's polling, I would drop out immediately." But Weiner shot right back with a smile, "You'll be dropping out soon enough, Donald. We both know it." This pissed Trump off, who responded directly, "Frankly, I look at his polls in New York, running for mayor, he does very poorly. So I wish him a lot of luck," Trump said.
That's when things really got testy: Weiner jabbed at Trump, "I'm the front-runner, big guy. I'm not sure if you're even going to be around at the end." But Trump got the last salvo in: "A lot of people are leaving the city if you end up winning." Morgan was downright flustered and disappointed having to end the segment mid-coitus: "Tragically, I have to leave it there, just when things were hotting up nicely." It's a good thing that Trump wasn't in the studio, or else those camera lens' would have been foggy alright.
