Some people don't choose to watch the world burn—they just have no choice but to bear witness when they are woken up early in the morning by a ridiculously noisy car bonfire. That's what happened to Midtown resident Jacob Camitta today: "So I was woken this morning at 6:45 a.m. by what sounded like a fire extinguisher and shouting. I get up and see this."
The sacrificial car offering was spotted at 56th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues. "It looks like the fire started in one of the planted areas on the sidewalk and moved to the car," Camitta added. Like us, his gaze remained transfixed on the flames as the FDNY arrived and promptly put it out.
