Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani is really ramping up his 2012 whisper presidential campaign. And by whisper, we mean, talk show. The other day he was telling CNBC's Larry Kudlow that the door to 2012 was "absolutely" open and, on this coming Monday night's Piers Morgan Tonight, Giuliani says that if Sarah Palin runs for president, then, hell, he might as well throw his hat in the ring, too. Here's the exchange that CNN is previewing:
Morgan: Would more tempted to run if [Palin] wasn't?
Giuliani: Maybe the opposite. Maybe the opposite because my one chance, if I have a chance, is that I'm considered a moderate Republican. So the more the Republicans in which I can show a contrast, probably the better chance I have.
Morgan: So you've become the acceptable face of the Republican party.
Giulaini: Well, I don't know about acceptable. [Laughter] The way I elected the mayor of New York City was not being acceptable. My slogan, 'You can't do any worse. Things are so bad, you need me.'" [Laughter]
Giuliani also said, "There is no obvious frontrunner right now. I guess everybody is happy with that, because nobody wants to be the frontrunner at this point because it always seems the frontrunner gets all the attention, all of the negative publicity." Oh, and according to CNN, Giuliani will discuss... 9/11.
