It seems that NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre is making a habit of getting ridiculed on morning news shows for his bullshit—when Fox News is calling you out, you may want to reconsider your message. A little over a month after David Gregory took him to task on Meet The Press for his "crazy" post-Newtown shooting speech, LaPierre appeared on "Fox News Sunday" today to talk all things guns, and defend the organization's recent ad that invoked President Obama's children. Fox News host Chris Wallace tried to reason with him to no avail: "You really think that the president's children are the same kind of target as every other school child in America?" Wallace said. "That's ridiculous and you know it, sir."

At one point, LaPierre ranted about Obama's plans for gun-control legislation: "I think what they'll do is they'll turn this universal [background] check on the law-abiding into a universal registry on law-abiding people," he said. "ObamaCare wasn't a tax until they needed it to be a tax. I don't think you can trust these people." Wallace wasn't just tough on him in that one instance though: he argued with him over his claims that inner-city gangs were the main problem, and over the idea of putting armed guards in every public place. Something tells us the NRA has a new person to add to their enemies list.

Besides Wallace, that list includes Ann Landers, Moon Zappa, and of course, Mayor Bloomberg. Bloomberg and his Mayors Against Illegal Guns group released their pro-background checks Super Bowl ad today (see it below). “Once again, the NRA’s Washington leadership showed just how out of step they are with the American public - and their own membership,” Bloomberg said in a release. “Closing the gaping wide loophole that allows criminals to get their hands on guns is a no brainer. It’s like we’ve set up two lines at the airport - one where you have to go through security and one where you don’t. Which do you think a criminal will choose?”
