Never one to shy away from controversy—especially controversy that reminds you he exists—Donald Trump is diving head first into the birther pool he's been wading in lately. And he's started off the week on friendly shores by calling into Fox & Friends to chat about Libya, and the protests in the UK and, of course, the important issue of whether or not the leader of the free world was born in the country he's been running for two years now.
First off, Trump insists this is about a piece of paper, not about skin color. "It's insulting that they bring this up, what does that have to do with race?" he asked referring to his fight with Whoopi Goldberg on The View last week. Further, he continued, "This guy either has a birth certificate or he doesn't. And I didn't think this was such a big deal, but I will tell you, it's turning out to be a very big deal because people now are calling me from all over saying, please don't give up on this issue. If you weren't born in this country, you can not be president." PS: Trump has a birth certificate!
But will Trump go so far as to say that he thinks that Obama might actually have been born elsewhere? Not quite. But he will say he is "really concerned." Also, "when this all started a week ago I assumed... But that ad that was placed in the paper was placed days after he was born... they could have come into the country and done that for social reasons. Why can't he produce a birth certificate?"
Meanwhile, and this is totally unrelated the Celebrity Apprentice is currently airing Sunday nights on NBC. Anyway, here's the clip of The Donald on F&F:
