A special-education teacher who was one of the two joggers mowed down by a drugged Staten Island cover girl, died this morning. Daniel Kelley, who was just 23-years-old, fought for his life until early this morning, then succumbed to the head and chest injuries he sustained during the crash on Jan. 5. "The family is suffering so much right now," a neighbor told the Daily News. Meanwhile, the model is free on bail.
Kelley, who ran for his high school track team, was getting some evening exercise with his girlfriend, 18-year-old Gina Siclari, when tragedy struck.Tragedy's name was Gypsey Porfirio and she barreled into them while high on a mix of ambien, xanax and percocet. She claimed the drug cocktail was prescribed after a recent gum surgery, but a search of her person turned up an additional 45 pills of oxycodone and 15 pills of alprazolam hidden away in her boots and jeans, according to the Real-Time News. Kelley's sweetheart, Siclari, is recovering from a broken ankle and other minor injuries.
Porfirio, who expressed remorse over the incident, will most likely have to do a whole lot more than apologize. The aspiring supermodel from Brooklyn is due back in court tomorrow, where she'll face drug possession charges that could land her nine years in prison, along with multiple felony counts of second-degree assault and vehicular assault, and misdemeanor counts of driving while intoxicated and on drugs.
