Earlier this morning, two men were shot outside a Chelsea nightclub at a private parking garage on West 28th Street. An initial report said, "The victims were shot while smoking outside the M2 club on West 28th Street just after 4:30 a.m., according to police. One was shot in the leg, while the other was shot in the foot." The victims were taken to the hospital as the police closed the street for the investigation. M2 has been in the news lately because the city is trying to shut down the establishment for flouting the city's smoking ban.
A publicist for M2 says the police report confirms their claims that the incident had nothing to do with smokers outside the club. According to their press rep, "M2's owner Joey Morrissey stepped in to help the police investigating the shooting and was one of the first to release video tapes from both inside and outside M2 and his other club Pink, which also show that this didn't take place in front of our club." Police sources tell Fox 5 the men "may have been at a club in the area," and apparently there was a third man shot in the leg.
