At his arraignment via video from the Bellevue Hospital psych ward, Michael Findley, who was arrested after stealing a cab and crashing it into a lamppost off Union Square on Sunday morning, ranted at the judge over wanting to represent himself. Of course, it doesn't help his case that he is perfectly sane by beginning his arraignment with the question, "Who is the defendant?"

After he was informed that he was in fact the defendant, Findley lashed out at the judge: "Here's all I want to let you know. I don't have an attorney. I'm sui juris. I'm a flesh and blood man. I'm not a corporation. I'm sui juris! I'm compos mentis!" The judge asked him to speak through his court-ordered lawyer only, to which he replied, "I refuse to have her represent me." He said he would fire her after she asked that Findley undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

At the end, Findley asked if he had been arraigned in a timely manner. The judge said he had, and ordered him held without bail. He also ordered a psych exam. It's like he wasn't even listening to a word Findley was saying!
