Two teens have been arrested and charged with gang assault for a brawl in a Brooklyn McDonald's this week.
Police say that a group of several teens attacked a 43-year-old man (whom the News has identified as Iver Whittingham) inside a McDonald's on Flatbush Avenue around 2 p.m. Thursday when he attempted to stop a fight between two teenage girls. During the assault, one of the teens repeatedly urged the group to continue to attack the victim by yelling "kill him...kill him right now." The victim was taken to Brooklyn Hospital where he was treated for bruising to his head, face and body.
You can see graphic video of the assault, via the News, below.
Community activist Tony Herbert, who previously spoke out about escalating gang violence among teens, said he wasn't shocked by the video of the assault at a press conference at the McDonald's after the fight: "I'm not surprised—I'm just embarrassed," he said. "These are young people in the community who should be doing something more positive, and to turn around and see this happen and to not understand what happened the last time ... are you stupid? The reality is there are consequences behind this—somebody's gonna go to jail."
Kendale Hamilton, 18, and Asjaney Naraine, 16, have both been charged with assault in the incident. Police released surveillance photos of two more suspect (see above) who are still at large.
