Yesterday's $355 million Mega Millions jackpot fostered many dreams, most of which are dead today. Psychics and spiritualists believed that the winner would be a woman (probably a Gemini) from New York... but the two lucky ticket holders are out-of-towners, from Idaho and Washington to be exact. According to CNN, their odds were one in 176 million! And the psychics weren't totally wrong, there were eleven $250,000 Mega Millions Winners from New York.

The winning numbers were 4, 8, 15, 25, 47 and the mega ball number 42—and if that sounds familiar to you, it's probably because you watched a little show called Lost. As that show's writer, Damon Lindelof, pointed out last night: "9,078 people played Hurley's numbers in the MegaMillions tonight, each winning $150."

New Yorkers will get another chance, at a smaller jackpot, this Friday (and twice a week forever), and WCBS talked to some area folk who had high hopes yesterday. One man told them if he won, he'd "buy a house somewhere warm, where the streets are plowed."
