A school bus packed with kids collided with a Penske moving truck in Queens Village this morning, sending the truck careening into a fruit stand and pinning a pedestrian to the sidewalk. The building was considerably damaged.

The crash took place at 11:45 a.m., when the driver of the truck, traveling south on Hollis Court Boulevard, struck a school bus at the intersection of Hillside Avenue. After colliding with the bus, the Penske truck plowed into New Giant Farms grocery store, causing the awning to collapse, according to the NYPD.

The pedestrian, a woman in her mid-40s, was struck while standing by the fruit stand and severely injured, ABC News reports. Emergency responders removed her from the debris, and rushed her to Jamaica Hospital. According to the FDNY, seven adult patients were transported to the hospital in total, some but not all with life-threatening injuries.

As for the 24 children on the bus, one was taken immediately to Long Island Jewish Hospital. The other 23 were ushered around the corner to a Kabinet King store, which was quickly converted into an emergency triage center. One Kabinet King employee told ABC News that he believed the children were between the ages of eight and ten.

Another employee told DNAInfo, "They were shook up. They were crying. It looks like some of them banged their heads."
