On December 29th, the NYPD Bomb Squad evacuated a six-story residential building on the Lower East Side in the middle of the night because one of the residents was allegedly armed to the teeth with grenades, firearms, and other heavy artillery. Why is the NY Post telling us about this now? Because the person who called in the report was "blond bombshell" Kayla Coxx, a "sultry transsexual porn star from LA." We'll have to take the tabloid's word on her star status, because we refuse to start our day by Googling "transsexual Kayla Coxx." (We save our transsexual porn browsing for lunch hour.)
Coxx was in town to appear on Howard Stern's show and spend QT with Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss. But she decided to make a few extra "roses" during her trip by "hanging out" with Norfolk Street resident Allen Hasty. She told Hasty, a self-proclaimed fan whom she'd never met, that the pleasure of her company would cost $2,000 an hour, but soon after she arrived she discovered that he only had a lousy $1,200. "When I got there, he wants to absorb as much time and energy of mine that he can," she tells the Post. "He offered me drugs. He had me looking through all of his [stuff] for the rest of the money."
That's when she found a silver gun in a bedroom drawer and a grenade on a hallway table. "I kept thinking, 'This is it! This is it!' " says Coxx, who was rescued when her "driver" came to check on her. She called the cops on Hasty, and the Bomb Squad found two inert MK-II grenades and a .40-caliber artillery round. The entire building was cleared out during the search, and Hasty was charged with drug possession and criminal use of drug paraphernalia. And we can safely assume there was no fire in the hole that night.
