A Medical Examiner has ruled the cause of death for Edelbuerto (Amanda) Gonzalez-Andujar: homicide from compression to the neck, and detectives believe she was killed by a man she had been dating. Her body was discovered on Tuesday in her Ridgewood apartment when a concerned relative asked the building's superintendent to open her apartment, having not heard from Amanda in three days. Friend Milagros Ramirez told ABC News, "She was such a sweet person, you know? She was loved by everybody, so I just can't figure who would do this."
Police are surveying security cameras in Gonzalez-Andujar's building to see if they can find her murderer. Friends say the four security cameras between the building's entrance and Gonzalez-Andujar's apartment show her entering with a man on Saturday morning and then the same man leaving alone a few hours later, but the police have yet to confirm that evidence. According to the Daily News, one neighbor reports hearing a loud fight on Saturday night, but there was no answer at the door by the time officers arrived. Gonzalez-Andujar's laptop was also missing from the apartment, suggesting her murderer may have taken it to prevent the discovery of correspondence between him and the victim.
