Police are still waiting for the guy found yesterday gagged in the back of a BMW to wake up and hopefully give them a better sense of how he got there and who the car's driver was (he fled on foot after crashing into a taxi). But in the meantime they now have a working theory: The whole thing very well might have been a really violent car theft.

A bill of sale was found at the scene of the accident, and the idea now is that the man in the back was the seller while the driver was a "buyer" who decided (as others have before) that he'd rather just have the ride for free. But until the driver is found, or the unconscious man is ID'd (the police are running his prints) all of this is just a theory.

However the bill of sale and the fact that the plates on the car were actually registered to a Camry in Queens, certainly make it a credible theory. And if it turns out to be true we'd say that when he wakes up the bound man, who appears to have had his ear partially severed in the ordeal, should thank his lucky stars for the inclement weather that caused that fender-bender!
