While Kim Basinger's father says his daughter "couldn't care less what Alec Baldwin does or doesn't do... [and] wouldn't embarrass him," the actor's friends are siding with him, suggesting the ex has a vendetta. On Thursday morning Baldwin was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital after his daughter feared he was going to kill himself. Allegedly the two were on the phone, and Baldwin suspects Basinger put their 14-year-old up to placing the emergency call.
A source told the Post that Baldwin was heard saying his ex did this "to embarrass him" just before he's set to co-host the Oscars with Steve Martin. When he returned from his short stint at the hospital on Thursday (he was reportedly there for no more than an hour), the paparazzi awaited him—one friend insinuated this was Basinger's work. Baldwin ended up lashing out at one of the photographers later that day, but according to US magazine, he didn't file charges.
