The woman who is accused of kidnapping a baby 23 years ago and raising her as her own child turned herself in today according to authorities. Ann Pettway has been on the lam ever since "daughter" Carlina White figured out she had been kidnapped from Harlem Hospital. Pettway was spotted in Connecticut yesterday, but was able to escape authorities.
"The FBI notified us that shortly after 1:30 p.m. Ann Pettway turned herself in in Stratford, and she’s now in the custody of the FBI. It is our understanding she was alone when she turned herself in," said Bridgeport Detective Keith Bryant. The state statute of limitations for kidnapping has expired—there is no statute of limitations for federal kidnapping, but no federal warrant has been issued yet.
