Two weeks ago, a police officer who was attempting to execute a warrant for a Bronx resident accidentally shot the suspect's 76-year-old father. And in a completely surprising turn of events, the victim is now suing the city.

The father, Jose Colon, described the experience to the News today: "I see the light and I hear the bullet - all at the same time. When I see that the bullet hit me, I said, 'Please don't shoot! I've been shot!' Then the police officer came to me and said, 'Don't move!' and he laid me down." Police say the light was likely a flashlight which Detective Andrew McCormack was fumbling to turn on when he accidentally shot Colon. Colon is now suing the city for at least $20 million. What, a visit from Mayor Bloomberg in the hospital wasn't enough to smooth things over?
