2008_02_maysbb.jpgThe football season is over, but news about the Giants and their Super Bowl win never gets old. Here's what's been happening since the ticker tape parade:

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino made good and delivered the Boston items he promised - like 100 cups of New England Clam Chowder from Legal Sea Foods; 42 pounds of coffee from Dunkin' Donuts (in honor of Super Bowl XLII); 12 dozen Boston Cream Pie (Tom Brady is #12) - to Mayor Bloomberg. Bloomberg got some help from Giants Rich Seubert (OL) and Michael Matthews (TE) when unloading the goods and donating them to City Harvest. City Harvest then delivered the food to community organizations all over the city.

The bet also included a donation of 2,008 footballs from Modell's and Wilson's Sporting Goods. The footballs are going to youth organizations and community centers.

2008_02_ringsb.jpgOne of the submitted Super Bowl ring possibilities is a design with $25,000 of sapphire, diamonds and platinum. Designed by Diamond Cutters International, the ring would feature a 12-carat sapphire and diamond Vince Lombardi trophies.

The Giants, who will select a design in the next month, have (just) $6,500 to spend on each ring, but DCI's president told the Post "he is willing to take a loss because of the significance of the home team's win and publicity for his company," especially since it was the "greatest upset in history, so they should get the best ring in history."

2008_02_patriots.jpgFinally, you know that the Giants fans tackled Giants Super Bowl Championship gear immediately, but what happened to the clothing printed in case of a Patriots win? The Pats' 19-0 t-shirts were donated by the NFL and Reebok to charity World Vision, which then distributes the clothes to needy areas around the world. The first shipment went to a Nicaraguan village, and the Post has a photo gallery showing smaller children in XXXL shirts. Last year, the unused Chicago Bears Championship sweatshirts and caps were appreciated by Romanians; one social worker said, "I am glad we could provide these warm clothes. Every support like this comes like a gift from heaven for all these children, I can assure you."
