Maksim Gelman is doing a great job proving his insanity. Earlier today he pleaded not guilty to a stabbing spree that left four, including his step-father and ex-girlfriend, dead. According to court papers, here are a few excuses, explanations and other bits of advice he had for cops when he was arrested on February 12th:
- "I wish you had shot me. I would've been better off if you shot me."
- "You know. I've got cancer. I've got six months. I've had a doozy of a day. I did this because I have cancer."
- "My ex-girlfriend—you know how it is."
- "I am the Mack, the guy you're looking for. The FBI gave me a raw deal."
- "You should stay away from angel dust."
We didn't even know angel dust was still around, so thanks for the tip, Gelman! He entered his plea from a closed-circuit television in his hospital room, and also waived his right to hear a formal reading of his charges, which include four counts of second-degree murder, single courts of first-degree and second-degree assault, and three counts of first-degree robbery. He's due back in court on June 7th.
