A 21-year-old man was shot on a D train—or on the platform—earlier this morning. According to WABC 7, the train was nearing the 53rd Street and Seventh Avenue stop around 4 a.m. when the incident occurred: "Police said the victim was minding his own business on the train when a man went after his gold chain. Investigators said a struggle ensued, a gun was pulled out and the victim was shot one time in the side."
1010 WINS, which says the shooting took place on the station's platform, reports that responding police officers saw a 24-year-old running from the scene. They were able to apprehend him at 53rd and Eighth Avenue. Charges are pending against the suspect, who was armed while the victim is in stable condition at a hospital.
