Now that yesterday's scary looking, but ultimately not all that damaging (unless that was your backyard shed in Denville, NJ) storm has passed, we can look forward to mostly pleasant weather this weekend. There's a slight hitch this afternoon as an upper level trough sweeps through the region. The lower levels of the atmosphere are so dry that the trough will most likely just produce a few clouds, but a brief late afternoon shower or two is not out of the question. Today's high should reach the upper 60s.
There's not much to say about the weather on Saturday and Sunday. High pressure is in charge and that will bring mostly clear skies and high temperatures right around 70 degrees. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden cherry blossoms are at peak bloom and this is the weekend of the cherry blossom festival.
Also at a peak this weekend is the pollen count. Oak, birch and maple are the culprits. The next chance of rain to knock some of that pollen out of the air will happen on Monday, when a storm system will try to move into the area. It is not yet clear how this next storm will play out but it is probably safe to say the start of next week should be a bit cooler and cloudy.
