Continuing proof that New Yorkers win at everything, including basic motor skills: we are officially the most walkable city in the country.
Walk Score, a website that ranks cities and neighborhoods based on their ease in accomplishing basic tasks without a car and the pedestrian-friendliness of their streets, just published their new list of the most walkable cities in the country, with fair Gotham top on the list. The previous rankings saw San Francisco slightly edging out New York for the top spot—so suck on that, Cali!
However! Walk Score is opening up the rankings to public debate, and currently, New York is in the #3 spot based on the number of "likes." There is no way in hell that we're losing again to San Francisco, or, God forbid, Seattle. StreetsBlog has a detailed rundown of the flaws in Walk Score's system, so get on your own two feet and vote now!
