FINALLY. For the first time since Hurricane Sandy struck, PATH trains will be resuming some late night service tonight. This being the PATH, we'll refrain from calling it "regular" service.
Per the Port Authority, as of today between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. the system will be running service from Newark to 33rd Street via Hoboken with stops at Harrison, Journal Square, Grove Street, and Newport in New Jersey and Christopher Street, 9th Street, 14th Street, and 23rd Street in Manhattan. So there is no chance of that escalator at Exchange Place trying to eat you.
Meanwhile it isn't all good news: "Officials say it could be late February before they receive a shipment of replacement parts necessary to restoring service on the line between Hoboken and the World Trade Center."
Further, we'd suggest you take the news of the returned service with a grain of salt (though not salt water, that'd probably mess up PATH's equipment even more). It isn't like the late-night PATH service was famous for its punctuality.
