Gosh, that was a nice weekend. Saturday, the vernal equinox, was twenty degrees warmer than normal. The abnormally warm weather is expected to continue for much of the week. Along with that warmth will be another springtime favorite: rain. The morning fog indicates that a warm front is nigh. Where the fog leads, rain will surely follow. Look for rain to become heavy later today and into tomorrow morning. A flood watch is in effect for Northern New Jersey and the western half of the lower Hudson Valley.

Highs today and tomorrow will approach 60 degrees. There won't be much cooling tonight because of the heavy cloud cover and the warm front's early morning passage. Rain is likely for much of the day tomorrow. A weak cold front trailing this system will dry things out for Wednesday, though it may be breezy.

The last really warm day of the week will be Thursday. The high should again reach the upper 50s under sunny skies. The extended streak of warm weather means this month will likely be the third- or fourth-warmest March on record locally. Another cold front late Thursday will keep Friday and Saturday's highs around 50 degrees, which is a couple of degrees below normal.
