A Rutgers pre-law student who was vacationing in Cancun is in a coma today under mysterious circumstances after sustaining brutal head injuries there. Joseph "Zeke" Rucker, 21, went on the trip to Mexico with friends two weeks ago to celebrate his graduation from Rutgers undergrad.

One of the friends told CBS that after partying for the night, Rucker chose to sleep outside on a lounge chair near the swimming pool. He was found by a security guard around 4 a.m., 30-40 ft. from the pool, with "his skull bashed in," his mother Anne told reporters.

His parents said Rucker suffered two fractures to the back of his skull and internal bleeding, and they believe it's "apparent that there was some random act of violence." Rucker was flown from a hospital in Mexico to a trauma center in Miami, where he is currently non-responsive.
