Guess that tune: "Ba-bum…ba-ba-ba-ba-bum." Are visions of Jerry Orbach and S. Epatha Merkerson drifting through your head? The iconic "Law & Order" opening theme song, instantly recognizable to fans pretty much everywhere, helped cops find a robbery suspect in New Jersey yesterday.
The suspect is accused of breaking into a Paterson home and holding a 9 year-old boy, his mother and grandmother at gunpoint while an accomplice raided the home for valuables. The two men left the house with the mother's cell phone, leaving the family shaken but unharmed. When detectives came to the scene, the L&O-loving mom told them that her phone had a distinctive ringtone—the L&O theme song.
Upon discovering the whereabouts of the suspect, the real-life detectives pulled a straight-up Lennie Briscoe move and called the mom's cell phone, triggering the "Ba-bum" that ultimately lead to the suspect's arrest. Police are still searching for the second suspect.
