About an hour ago, a collapse was reported at the Cromwell Recreation Center on Staten Island's Pier 6 in Tompkinsville. According to the Advance, "'The pier has been compromised,' according to emergency radio transmissions. According to a witness account from the scene, the pier collapsed and the building is sliding into the water. FDNY workers are trying to determine whether the under-construction building is occupied."

One emergency message from the wires said: "BUILDING IS A 2 STY 100X500 COMMMERCIAL BUILDING, SURROUNDED BY WATER ON THE EXPOSURE 2,3,4 SIDES, ENTIRE PIER HAS BEEN COMPROMISED."
