His agent says they were in talks to renew his contract, but because of the show's declining viewership, Regis would have had to take a paycut. One major reason for the bad ratings? Regis takes too much time off! Kelly Ripa is also pissed at Regis for leaving; one source said, "She felt it showed a total lack of respect for her." For the record Regis makes about $18 to $20 million a year, which he can use to buy himself one of these.
