Whoa, way too much weather happening today. First, an equation: warm, moist air + cold ground = dense fog this morning. Second, possible record high today. The record is 58, reached most recently in 1991. Since it is already 57 the record is probably in the bag. Third, rain rain rain.
The big storm that spawned dozens of tornadoes yesterday, killing at least 45 people in the Mid-South is currently centered over Cincinnati. A series of upper-level disturbances will travel along the stationary front that stretches eastward across Pennsylvania and Connecticut through the day today. As the disturbances pass overhead they will unleash heavy rain and perhaps a thunderstorm upon us. So much rain that a flood watch is in effect for the metropolitan area from this afternoon into tonight.
The rain may linger through tomorrow morning. It will be much colder tomorrow afternoon, with a high of 45. There might be a snow flurry Thursday night or Friday morning. In fact, rain or snow will linger through Saturday night. Sunday and Monday will likely be much, much colder and windy as Arctic air schleps it's way here from the Yukon.
