Early Sunday morning a Queens mother of two of was killed when she was shot 20 times while sitting on the stoop in front of her home. According to the NY Post, at around 3:30 a.m. Sunday Sandra Bajnath, 39, accidentally bumped into an unidentified woman while at the Food Hut Restaurant and Bar on Rockaway Boulevard in South Ozone Park with her husband Anthony Tika and her cousin Sean Seepaul. The trio left soon after to avoid a scene when Bajnath's apology was apparently rejected, retiring to drink on her stoop outside her 135th St home, two blocks away from Food Hut.
Approximately two hours later, a "group of men approached" the stoop and "fired at least 20 shots," according to witnesses. Bajnath took a bullet in the torso and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime, while Seepaul was taken to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition after being shot in the stomach. Tika appears to have been unharmed in the incident. Bajnath, who had been on maternity leave from a Verizon customer-service job, left behind two children, 10-month old Ravin and 6-year-old son Anthony. There are conflicting reports about whether the children were in the house during the shooting.
Police have made no arrests, but impounded a silver Cadillac in the neighborhood, which neighbors say may be connected to the crime.
