A Queens assemblywoman who, according to mortgage documents, doesn’t actually live in Queens says she won’t seek a eighth term. Ann-Margaret Carrozza wrote Friday that it was "a profound honor to have represented the people of the 26th Assembly District for the past 14 years," but that a reelection bid wasn’t in the cards, reports the News. On top of an ongoing residency investigation by the attorney general, it’s possible that she’s just lost interest. According Albany watchdogs, she’s often failed to show up at legislative sessions “for days on end.”

The 42-year-old was first elected back in 1996, as a representative of Bayside where she owns a home and a co-op. But two years ago she and her husband picked up another home, a $1.8 mansion in Long Island that they listed as their “principal residence” on mortgage forms. Attorney General Andrew Cuomo called foul, launching a probe into her residency.

As for her poor attendance record, Carrozza said last year that "personal issues" caused her to show up for work only 36% of the time in 2009. "If I had to grade it," Carrozza said of her attendance, "I would say that the last two years were abysmal."
