A fire in a Queens apartment building early Monday morning killed one man and injured two others, including a firefighter, the NYPD said.

A 911 call reported smoke and fire conditions at around 2:39 a.m. Monday on the second floor of a five-story building at 45-08 40th Street in Sunnyside, Queens, the FDNY said.

More than 20 emergency units, including 79 firefighter and emergency service personnel, responded to the scene.

Two people in the fire were transported to NYC Health and Hospitals Elmhurst in critical condition. One of the men died from his injuries while the other remains in critical condition, the NYPD said.

A firefighter was also injured from the blaze and transported to a local hospital in serious but stable condition, with injuries FDNY described as not life-threatening.

The FDNY said it took less than an hour to take out the fire. The cause is still under investigation.
