Mere hours after we excoriated the yellow-bellied teenagers who burned down PS 29's playground comes the news that a Saint Ann's student has stood up to take responsibility. (You're welcome, Cobble Hill). The Daily News reports that 16-year-old Max Laytan turned himself into police earlier today. In his defense, we assume he's co-captain of Saint Ann's legendary Public School Playground Burning Team, which last year really wailed on Dalton in the semis.

His mother, Ursula Alexander, told the paper, "It's just horrifying that this happened." She confirmed that the boy, whose father Charles Layton runs Alliance Films, that has distributed obscure art-house films like The Kings Speech, was present at PS 29 on the night of May 8 when the fire occurred.

Cobble Hill city councilman Brand Lander says that the teens should be "held accountable," and be forced to perform (ugh!) "community service," but right now there's only one teen to do so. What Max needs is Al Pacino to defend his honor and shame his comrades into confessing as well. HOOAH!
