Over the weekend the body of a 400-pound man was found stuffed inside a large bag in an apartment at the Justice Sonia Sotomayor Houses in Soundview, and police have identified the victim as apartment resident Angel Rondon. Rondon, 52, reportedly lived alone, and one neighbor said she last saw him on March 14th. Since then she had knocked on his door a few times: "I could hear the TV, but no one came to the door."
A medical examiner has determined that Rondon had been repeatedly hit in the head and that he suffered a fractured skull. Neighbor Elizabeth Terc called 911 on Saturday after the smell in the building became "unbearable," and Rodon's body was badly decomposed by the time cops found him. Police have not yet made an arrest, and neighbors have said Rondon was not the type to have enemies. One neighbor previously said, "He was a nice person to everybody."
