A time-honored tradition of getting irreparably blazed before the senior prom went horribly awry for a group of teens in Glassboro, New Jersey on Friday night. Five friends were gathered in a silver dodge Intrepid driven by one regally-named King M. Seals, 18. But despite his magisterial moniker, Seals seems to have exercised poor judgment in failing to adequately hotbox the Intrepid, and the pungent scent of marijuana smoke wafting from the vehicle caught the attention of one Patrolman Ron Marchese. And everything went sideways from there.
Though the teens explained to Patrolman Marchese they were headed to the prom, he declined to cut them a break on the most magical night of their lives and brought the hammer down hard. King M. Seals reportedly "turned over" two zip-lock bags containing seven smaller baggies of marijuana and two marijuana buds, but Marchese wasn't satisfied, and the Star-Ledge reports that "a consent search" revealed another bag containing 47 baggies of marijuana.
All five were taken into custody and charged with distribution of marijuana, possession of drugs within 500 feet of a public park, possession of marijuana under 50 grams, and failure to deliver an illicit substance to a law enforcement officer, the Courier Post reports. Three unnamed juveniles in the car were subsequently released to their parents, but King M. Seals and Mark Brown, 19, were taken to Gloucester County Jail in default of $10,000 bail. It's unclear how the rest of prom night went, but one can only assume that King M. Seals was sorely missed by his fellow classmates.
