Reminder to anyone who steps into a cab: PLEASE BUCKLE UP. If a cab suddenly stops and/or gets in an accident and you're not buckled it, you may suffer serious injuries when you slam into the hard plastic partitions. For instance, earlier today, a cab crashed into a doctor's office at Park Avenue and East 67th Street. Stacey Stowe Tweeted, "Taxi smashes 650 Park Ave just before 11am today. Female passenger, bleeding with head wound but alert. No seatbelt."
According to DNAinfo, "The cab was headed south about 11 a.m. when it collided with a westbound van on East 67th Street, officials and witnesses said." The doctor's office manager said, "It sounded like an explosion. I saw a mailbox flying through the air."
The passenger had facial injuries and was taken to the hospital. And the taxi driver and van driver blamed each other: "I'm going down the street with a green light, and somebody hit me," said the cabbie while the van driver told DNAinfo, "I didn't see him until he hit me. It's a good thing no one was in the way."
