Just after midnight, a water main broke in downtown Manhattan—leaving a huge mess for commuters this morning. There are changes to the B, C, D, F, M and Q subway lines.

According to NBC New York, "A 36-inch main broke around 12:30 a.m. at East 13th Street and Fifth Avenue, a spokesman for the city's Department of Environmental Protection said. Water spouted into the streets, turning roadways into rivers, and dripped through sewer grates, flooding subway tracks below."

Further, the water main break has "buckled the pavement, trapped a taxi and sent water pouring down streets and into the basements of local buildings," reports WCBS 2. A Con Ed worker told 1010 WINS about the parking garage: "Completely under water and I understand there’s 50 cars parked here. You can look into the office and you can see the office has about eight feet of water in it."

This video, taken near the New School, is sideways, but you get the idea!
